Northwell Health, which has been making inroads on the East End since Riverhead’s Peconic Bay Medical Center joined its network a couple years back, is also currently working with GoHealth Urgent Care on a network of new urgent care clinics that could change the way patients on the East End access urgent health care.

The first of their East End clinics opened in Hampton Bays last October. A clinic in Riverhead opens today, and a third East End clinic is slated to open in Bridgehampton in September, said Dr. Mohammad Kasaji, the lead physician who oversees the GoHealth Urgent Care network in Suffolk County, at an open house June 21 at the Hampton Bays site.

Today’s opening in Riverhead brings the total number of Northwell-GoHealth Urgent Care centers to 18 in Long Island,

The Riverhead urgent care center, located at 1842 Old Country Road, will hold an open house today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with guided tours offered by the staff. The Riverhead location can be reached at 631.830.4175.

At the Hampton Bays open house, Dr. Kasaji gave an overview of the services available at the GoHealth Urgent Care network, which he described as a “fast-track emergency room, for if you don’t need admission.”

Patients can check in online and see wait times at the urgent care centers near them before leaving home, he said.

The clinics are prepared to do x-rays, administer fluids, take lab tests, repair wounds, give medications and take care of most straightforward urgent care matters that would not require hospital admission, he said.

Dr. Kasaji said the network is devoted to great patient care. Dr. John Scranton, a Water Mill doctor who was an emergency room doctor at Southampton Hospital for 30 years, is the doctor on site most days, along with Physician Assistant Kareshma Puglisi.

Patients can create an online account enabling them to see their test results without returning to their clinic, and can have their records forwarded to their primary care doctor.

The centers takes a wide range of insurance plans, and also work with no-fault car insurance providers, and have set pricing for patients without insurance from $125 for a basic visit to $350 for an advanced visit.

The Hampton Bays location is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on weekends and federal holidays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the year.
