Videographer Rory MacNish has been working with Southold Town on a new video about the affordable housing crisis in Southold Town, with the hopes of giving the public an overview of the situation, information on work done by neighboring towns, and possible future solutions.

Produced with funding from the Long Island Community Foundation, the video describes the market forces behind “Southold’s biggest export: young people,” according to Town Supervisor Scott Russell; shares details about studies that show affordable housing doesn’t cause a decline in neighboring property values; and includes a trip to discuss successful affordable housing projects in East Hampton Town.

The video is now airing daily on Channel 22 in Southold Town.

For more information on what can be done about affordable housing in Southold, contact Southold’s government liaison officer, Denis Noncarrow, at denisn@southoldtownny.gov.
