The Beacon isn’t like other news sources on the East End — we work hard every day to find the stories that reflect who we are as East Enders, our hopes for a sustainable future for the region, our fears about change and stories that tell of the inner lives of the artists, innovators and entrepreneurs who help make this such a special place.
We operate on a shoestring, and we’re pretty happy doing just that. After all, enough of this place has been bought and sold, and we’re not for sale to any high bidders.
The Beacon Goes to Press
The Beacon in print, a monthly publication launching April 1, 2017, will focus the efforts of our growing staff of reporters on big-picture stories, giving readers the context and depth that is often lacking in the 24-hour news cycle. Our online news coverage will continue to be fresh and fully up-to-date.
Print subscriptions are now available for $20 per year for readers in Suffolk County and $30 per year for readers who live on the East End part-time. You can subscribe to the print edition online here.
All of the content in our online news service will always be available for anyone to see online free of charge.
We can make this happen because of the generous support of readers who believe in our mission. Please consider helping to keep that dream alive — you can help us with any amount you see fit, and everything helps, even as little as $1 for a cup of coffee to keep us awake through long town board meetings.
With your help, we will continue to grow and provide you with sustainable news for many years to come.
