40th Annual Shelter Island 10K

This June 15 marks the 40th annual Shelter Island 10K, a world-class race known for its scenic beauty.
Organizers of this year’s race welcome former Olympians Benji Durden and Kyle Heffner, who both competed on the 1980 Olympic team the year the Shelter Island 10K was founded and the year the Olympics were boycotted and they were unable to compete.
Other former Olympians and running legends competing this year include four time NYC Marathon winner and four time Boston Marathon winner Bill Rodgers, Olympic Gold Medal winner and first-ever women’s Olympic marathon champion Joan Benoit Samuelson, Jon Sinclair and Keith Brantley.
The race kicks off at the traffic circle on Route 114 in the island center at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, and the race is followed by a festival on the Shelter Island School grounds adjacent to the start and finish of the race.
Registration for the 10K is $40 in advance, or $50 the day of the race.
Registration for a concurrent 5K run is $30 in advance or $40 on the day of the race. In-person registration closes at 4 p.m. on the day of the race. For more details, visit shelterislandrun.com.
