Greenport Band Special Concert in Mitchell Park

The Greenport Band, which performs on Fridays throughout the summer in Greenport’s Mitchell Park, will be holding a special 5 p.m. concert on the Friday of Maritime Festival weekend.
The Greenport Band dates back at least as far as 1851. As the Greenport Brass Band, under the direction of Mr. S. Wells Phillips, it was attached to the Sixteenth Regiment, Sixth Brigade and 2d Division INfantry of the Militia of the State of New York, Colonel Thomas Hempstead, Esq., Commandant.
Continuous in most of the years since 1851, save in times of war and the Covid summer of 2020, the Greenport Band has played every summer since 1946.
