HIFF Screening of “Embrace of the Serpent” at Parrish Art Museum

Filmed in stunning black-and-white, director Ciro Guerra centers on Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman and last survivor of his people. The film is inspired by the journals of two explorers, Theodor Koch-Grunberg and Richard Evans Schultes who traveled through the Colombian Amazon during the last century in search of the sacred, psychedelic Yakruna plant.
