NPC on Sustaining Women’s Creative Enterprise – A Gathering and Discussion at Ille Arts
October 12 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
lle Arts, The Neo-Political Cowgirls and Sheri Sandler invite the community to an evening of networking and conversation on Saturday, October 12th at Ille Arts Gallery where wine and appetizers will be served from 5:30-7:30 pm.
A panel with NPC company founder and Artistic Director Kate Mueth, Ille Arts director Sara DeLuca, and Babette’s restauranteur Barbara Layton will start the discussion. The topic of conversation will be the challenges of sustaining creative endeavors and the outlook for women in creative entrepreneurship on the East End of Long Island and beyond.
On the surface it may seem as if women today are “getting ahead,” but in reality the struggle is still deep and riddled with a lack of funding. As women age, poverty statistics spike for them. Prior to that, the shaky ground for women in business simply due to their gender makes for a steep mountain. In fields of creativity, the road is even more precarious.
The panel will look at the specifics of why this is so, what changes are needed, how communities can be more engaged and ideas for problem solving this particular experience on the East End. An informative and inspiring evening for women to network and come together in search of strengthening outcomes in business and the future. Guests are invited to bring business cards for sharing during the networking portion.
