Three Short Films by Emily Anderson at the Montauk Library

On Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Montauk Library, Filmmaker Emily Anderson will introduce three of her short films: Captain Jack’s Family Jewels, The Usual Conversations, a documentary, and the award-winning, Only The Wind is Listening,which was shot on location in Montauk. Written, directed and produced by Ms. Anderson, the film features Emmy-award nominee, Jennifer Ferrin and commercial fisherman, Thomas Mamorowski. The film tells a tale of the intersection of two solitary lives against the somber background of Montauk’s wintery sky and sea. Q & A to follow the screening.

Bios:

A native of Brighton, England, Emily divides her time between New York City and Montauk. As an illustrator, creative director and filmmaker, Emily Anderson has been at the helm of numerous projects for clients such as J. Crew, American Express, ESPN, NASCAR, Patagonia, Urban Outfitters, and many others.  Her work includes award-winning documentaries for IBM and Phillips which have taken her around the world.  Recently, she was recognized by SHOOT Magazine’s 20016 ‘New Directors to Watch.’ Her distinctions include: HIFF Suffolk County Film Commission’s Next Exposure Grant 2018; IBM WatsonX Alex Da Kid, Bronze Pencil at the One Show;The Living Network.films win at Cynopsis and Shorty Awards 2017 Makers2Awards; New Directors to Watch, SHOOT magazine, 2016. Actress Jennifer Ferrin’s career includes a wide range of roles on daytime and prime-time TV and cable, legit theatre, and digital media.  Her most notable role is that of Jennifer Munson on As the World Turns (2003 to 2006) for which she was nominated for two Emmys. In 2006, she landed a recurring role on the primetime show, 3 LBS.  On Broadway in 2007-2008, Ferrin starred in The 39 Steps, Patrick Barlow’s stage adaptation of the Alfred Hitchcock film. She has appeared in numerous TV shows including Life On Mars, The Cape, Royal Pains, The Following, Falling SkiesRise, Homeland, Sneaky Pete, Elementary, Boardwalk Empire, Hell on Wheels and Steven Soderbergh’s Mosaic, a murder mystery released in 2017 as an interactive iOS/Android app which has became a series on HBO. In January 2019, she will be appearing in The Passage, based on Justin Cronin’s novels. Ms. Ferrin and her husband, interior designer Zachary Bliss reside in Amagansett.
