Tumbleweed Tuesday Celebration and Art Auction for the Sag Harbor Cinema Arts Center

September 3, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The Sag Harbor Cinema sign has returned to the new façade of the rebuilt cinema, a year-and-a-half after a catastrophic fire.

eBay, Page Restaurant and the Sag Harbor Cinema announce an ART AND EXPERIENCE online auction for the restoration of the Sag Harbor Cinema. This auction, generously sponsored by eBay’s CEO Devin Wenig, will feature about 60 works of art by internationally known artist like Ross Bleckner, Eric Fischl, Ralph Gibson, Susan Meiselas and Laurie Simmons AND exciting experiences, such as Golf Foursomes (The Bridge, The Atlantic, The National Golf Links of America), restaurant dinners at some of the best Sag Harbor restaurants, private yoga class with premiere yoga gurus Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman, shopping at Urban Zen and LoveShackFancy, San Miguel de Allende & London vacations, opening night at the New York Film Festival, backstage and live performances at Wicked and Saturday Night Live, and many more!

The auction will go live on August 28th and will end on September 4th, with an extraordinary village-wide party at Page Restaurant on “Tumbleweed Tuesday”, September 3rd. The party will take place in the center of the Village at Page at 63 Main from 5-10pm, with a cash bar, free popcorn (of course!) and plentiful hors d’oeuvres in celebration of and to raise funds for the restoration of the greater-than-ever Sag Harbor Cinema, which hopes to reopen before Christmas, 2019 as a restored and state-of-the-art Cinema showing crowd pleasers and the art house fare it was always known for, the best in world-wide entertainment.

Laura Grenning, Sara Nightingale and Julie Keyes Galleries will host the art auction on September 3rd to coincide with the party at Page Restaurant. Work will be on view from 2-8pm and volunteers will be available to facilitate bidding for the public. The price of the artworks will range from $250 to $50,000. There is art for everyone! and bidding on experiences will be available at the same time online through eBay.

In addition, merchants on Main Street will keep their doors open later than usual so that everyone can enjoy Tumbleweed Tuesday—no longer the sleepy day for which it was named. Tickets for galleries and Page Restaurant are not necessary, and the public is warmly invited! The rebuilding of the Sag Harbor Cinema is a community effort that will serve the entire East End of Long Island when it is completed.
