In the lead-up to the Nov. 3, 2026 midterm elections, against the backdrop of unprecedented challenges to voting rights and election administration, the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island & North Fork is hosting a virtual discussion for the public on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m.
Titled “Voting Rights and the 2026 Midterms: Election Challenges, Threats and Integrity,” the forum features two prominent election law experts—David Becker and Jerry Goldfeder.

Mr. Becker is the founder and executive director of the nonpartisan, non-profit Center for Election Innovation & Research (CEIR) based in Washington D.C., and the former senior trial attorney in the U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division Voting Section.
Mr. Goldfeder is the director of the Voting Rights and Democracy Project at Fordham Law School and also chair of the American Bar Association’s Election Law Committee.
Moderating the conversation will be the League’s Government Committee chair, Andrea Gabor, the Bloomberg Professor of Business Journalism at Baruch College CUNY.
“Together we will examine the legal landscape surrounding voting rights, the integrity of election administration, and the threats and safeguards that will shape who votes — and how — in November 2026,” said Ms. Gabor.
