The Mattituck-Laurel Civic Association has spent the past year gathering ideas from the community about how to make the intersection of Route 25, Love Lane and Old Sound Avenue safer for traffic, pedestrians and the community.

The civic group will hold a special meeting next Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Mattituck Presbyterian Church to discuss the findings of their survey and make recommendations to Southold Town, New York State and Suffolk County.

More information about the project is online at www.mattitucklaurelcivic.org.

Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell will be MLCA’s special guest at their regular monthly meeting on March 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall at the corner of Pike Street and Wickham Avenue.

Mr. Russell will discuss his goals and initiatives from his 2016 State of the Town address, including affordable housing, code enforcement, nitrogen reduction in waterways, wineries, land preservation and road projects.

MLCA is accepting questions from the public for the supervisor at Matt-lrl-civic@optonline.net.
