A new Osprey platform was placed in West Creek in New Suffolk on March 25.

The very talented Joe Polashock rebuilt the platform and pole, which had been seriously damaged in a couple of winter storms, and the island it had been on was breaking down due to rising water levels.

The new location, at the end of Fanning Road, is in a more stable bog area approximately 100 yards southeast of the original. Within a few hours of the platform’s placement, Gary Steinfeld reported that an Osprey pair had already claimed it as their home.

The New Suffolk Civic Association would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped raise the platform: Muffie Baker, Linda Auriemma, Aaron Virgin (Group for the East End,) Gary Steinfeld, Matt Duffy, Frank Castellano, Joe Polashock and Dave Thompson. A special thanks to Jim Baker for the drone aerial view of the efforts.
