The Mattituck-Laurel Civic Association will discuss Southold Town’s Zoning Update Project at its monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the first of several meetings in the upcoming weeks to discuss the zoning project at civic associations throughout the North Fork.

The meeting will be held in the downstairs community room at the Mattituck-Laurel Library.

After an overview of zoning by Town Planner Heather Lanza, residents will be asked to weigh in on concerns specific to their hamlets as well as the town. Topics such as traffic congestion and safety, housing, how to balance community character with hotels and other intense uses, protecting our cultural and natural resources, and cell service will be discussed.

The North Fork Civics are encouraging residents to attend their hamlet’s forum, as the more feedback they can provide the town, the better the town can work to address community concerns as they develop the updates.

In addition to the Feb. 26 meeting in Mattituck, this discussion will continue at the following North Fork civic associations in March:

East Marion Community Assoc. — Sat. 3/2, 10am, East Marion Fire Department

Orient Association — Sun. 3/3, 2pm, Poquatuck Hall

Greenport — Thurs. 3/7 at 6pm, Greenport Fire House

Cutchogue and New Suffolk — Thurs. 3/14, 5:30pm, Cutchogue New Suffolk Library

Southold Peconic Civic Assoc. — Sat. 3/23, 10am, CAST
