The Cutchogue Fire Department’s 69th Annual Chicken Barbecue — still Long Island’s largest chicken barbecue — was held Saturday, Aug. 22.

From afternoon until well in the evening, the Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary served up more than3,200 chicken dinners — complete with local corn, tomato & cucumber salads, potato salad and peaches and ice cream — under the big tent and through takeout in the department’s new firehouse.

The evening was capped by a performance by the department’s marching band, led by Thomas Roslak.

It’s the first year this storied event returned home to CFD headquarters after two years down the road at Peconic Bay Vineyards, after the completion of construction of the new firehouse earlier this year.
