Public Hearings Scheduled on Suffolk County Water Plan

Suffolk County is convening public hearings this coming week on the Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement for the Suffolk County Subwatersheds Wastewater Plan.

The plan, also known as the Suffolk County Reclaim Our Water and Long Island Nitrogen Action Plan initiative, includes evaluations and recommendations for the development of a countywide wastewater management program to reduce nitrogen loading from wastewater sources.

There will be two hearings. The first will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Suffolk County Water Authority’s Education Center at 260 Motor Parkway in Hauppauge. The second will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Suffolk Community College Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center at 20 East Main Street in Riverhead.

All are invited to submit testimony, either orally or in writing, at the meeting. Written comments are requested and will be accepted prior to the meeting and until the close of business Dec. 13, 2016. Comments may be sent to:
