The streets and venues of downtown Southold will once again be packed next weekend with music, roaming performers, family activities, food and beverage tastings and more than 60 vendors sharing information about businesses and non-profits working in the town of Southold.
The Fifth Annual Southold WinterFest, a free festival organized by Southold Town’s Economic Development Committee, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Rain Date Feb. 22)
The Main Road in downtown Southold will be closed to traffic during the festival, which will be held in both indoor and outdoor spaces throughout town. Last year, 2,500 visitors attended the event. Admission and parking are both free.
Highlights of the day include ice carvings in the Southold Town Annex parking lot; line dancing, a baked potato bar, s’mores and fire pits at the First Presbyterian Church; roaming mini-shows from the actors of the North Fork Community Theatre’s March production of “1776” and the renowned Wantagh American Legion Pipe Band; Uncle Tony’s Reptile Show at the Southold Library, pony rides from The Little Red Barn on the Town Hall Annex lawn; a snow machine, snowball fights and paper airplane making at the Southold Historical Museum; an obstacle course trailer on Main Street; face painting in the municipal parking lot; an all-day DJ across from the municipal parking lot; a professional Stilt Walker serving as Master of Ceremonies and a snow globe on the Village Green.
CAST at 53930 Main Road kicks off the day’s festivities at 10 a.m. with children’s cupcake decorating, followed by a 10:30 a.m. dance performance and workshops for kids. CAST’s North Fork Culinary Program will be serving up food at 1:30 p.m., followed by a performance by The Swedish Meatballs Band at 2:30 p.m.

There will be music throughout the day throughout downtown Southold:
At The Village Green Gazebo, Points East will perform from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Julia Grace will perform from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and the North Fork Dirt Band will perform from 1 to 3 p.m.
The Eastern Long Island Old Time Jam will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Southold Historical Museum. The HooDoo Loungers will perform from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. At North Fork Taps and Corks in the Feather Hill shopping center, Roth and Fuhr Men will perform from 2 to 5 p.m., with an appearance by Julia Grace from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m.
The Wantagh American Legion Pipe Band will be performing along the Main Road from Noon to 2 p.m.
