• We’re expecting sunny skies today, with a high temperature near 78 degrees and a west wind 7 to 11 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 21 mph. We’re expecting patchy fog overnight, with otherwise mostly clear skies and a low around 63. Fog will continue into early Wednesday, when we’re expecting sunny skies and a high near 77. Thursday will be partly sunny, with a high near 79 and a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.

• The North Fork Civics will hold a panel discussion “Our Housing Crisis: Local Voices,” next Monday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. at CAST in Southold. • The Southold Town Board will hold a public hearing on a Coastal Erosion Hazard appeal for a project at 1525 North Sea Drive in Southold at its 9 a.m. work session this morning, followed by an update on IT infrastructure upgrades, and discussion of the four-poster deer insecticide program, the renovation of the Town Hall Annex and the proposed Public Safety Referendum. The board holds one public hearing at its 6 p.m. meeting on the designation of the Shiloh Baptist Church on Route 48 as a historic landmark. • The Southampton Town Board holds public hearings at its 6 p.m. meeting this evening on CPF acquisitions of 9 The Bridge in Noyac, 21 Cold Spring Court in Shinnecock Hills and 27 Dune Road in East Quogue, as well and on the use of CPF Water Quality Improvement Project funding for the proposed Hampton Bays Sewer System and wellhead treatment to remove PFAS from Plant #3 of the Hampton Bays Water District at its 6 p.m. meeting this evening. • The Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council will hold a vote public vote this afternoon and evening on whether the district can levy $60,000 per year in taxes for operation and maintenance of its property, including several historic houses and the Cutchogue Village Green. The vote will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Mattituck-Cutchogue School District’s administration building (formerly the Cutchogue West School) at 385 Depot Lane.
