This Week in Pictures — March 2, 2014

Last year's Brussels Sprouts still have a lot to say.
Last year’s Brussels Sprouts still have a lot to say.

Sail away on the schooner Deliverance. Be attacked by giant Brussels Sprouts. Wonder which scarecrows in the community garden are drinking malt liquor. Watch the snowdrops come up through the snow. Then, Sunday afternoon, watch the snow cover them over again. There’s nothing like early March to make you bite your nails and wish for a definitive season to begin. Gentlemen, start your engines. Spring is in the air.

I sent this out last Wednesday to NF Birds Google Group. After reading your comments in today’s “This week in Pictures” I am not so sure there is hope. (lol)

In spite of todays snow flurries spring is in the air.
Had a nice Tree Sparrow on the deck, and saw the bizarre courtship display of two N Flickers up in the trees.
Am hearing the spring “birdie birdie birdie” of the Cardinal.
Plus the Pussy Willows are starting to bud break ! There is hope.
