Bluegrass & BBQ with the Edith & Bennett Band at Parrish Art Museum

September 2, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free w/Museum Admission
Edith & Bennett

Mark your calendars for another end of summer celebration full of toe tapping and hip-swinging with the Edith & Bennett Band. Delicious barbecue and specialty drinks will be available for pre-reservation and in-person purchase from the Café. Bring a lawn chair for the Mildred C. Brinn Terrace or blanket for the Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley Foundation Event Lawn and soak in the final sounds of summer – a great way to kick-off your Labor Day weekend!

Edith and Bennett and their band return after two stellar performances at the Parrish. Edith Gawler and Bennett Konesni are musicians and worksong scholars who together play old-time fiddle, banjo music, Swedish dance tunes, and farmer’s ballads and hollers. Edith grew up in Maine as a member of the legendary Gawler Family Band, and Bennett is co-founder of Sylvester Manor, a 243-acre educational farm on Shelter Island, NY on a piece of land that has been in his family since 1652.

The Golden Pear Cafe will be selling food and drink specials, so come
socialize, soak in the scenery, and have a glass of wine, to the sounds
of summer.

Table Seating is reserved for Golden Pear Cafe patrons so guests are
encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets to enjoy the live
music from the terrace and the Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley
Foundation Event Lawn.

All Sounds of Summer concerts are free with Museum admission and take place rain or shine.
