Carols & Cookies at the Jamesport Meeting House
December 17, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm$5
The seasonal tradition “Carols & Cookies” returns to the Jamesport Meeting House Friday, December 17 at 5 p.m. with the Riverhead High School Chamber Chorus under the baton of Dena Tishim. Vaccinations are required for adults; masks are required for everyone. All donations at the door will support the Chamber Chorus’s participation in a choir competition this spring. Weather permitting, the chorus will lead everyone in community caroling outdoors under the front portico at the conclusion of the concert. While refreshments will not be served in the Lecture Room, there will be cookies thanks to a special arrangement with Junda’s Pastry Crust & Crumbs.
The Jamesport Meeting House, a structure built in 1731 by the area’s Puritan settlers, was purchased in 2008 by a preservation trust formed by a group of concerned residents in and around Jamesport. They feared that the then vacant building would either be torn down or turned into a commercial venture and arranged the financing to buy it.
Now operating as a not-for-profit entity, the Meeting House has evolved into a vital center for a broad range of events, including community meetings, lectures, Broadway performances and concerts of all kinds.
The oldest public building on the East End of Long Island and sitting in heart of the Jamesport Historic District at 1590 Main Road, the structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
