Cindy Patrick: “East End Eden” Opening and Lecture at Quogue Library

June 7, 2014 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Free

Cindy Patrick discovered her love of photography as an art student in the early ’80s and quickly gravitated to alternative processes, including hand coloring and lith printing. She moved from toy cameras to Polaroids and then to digital photography, Photoshop and finally the iPhone. She has been a professional photographer for the last decade.

All her photographic art is now created using the iPhone as a camera and the iPad as her editing tool. Ms. Patrick says that her intention with her work is “to show the world solely from my own subjective perspective, distorting colors and forms for emotional effect.” She emphasizes painterly qualities and strong color over the representational or realistic. “While the starting point for each piece is a photograph,” she says, “I strive to transform the ordinary into something poetic.”

Ms. Patrick will give a lecture titled “Art in Your Pocket: Using the iPhone as a Creative Tool” at 1:30 p.m. on Sat., June 7, with a reception to follow from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
