Every Voice Matters: The Power of Poetry at Mattituck-Laurel Library
January 27, 2015 @ 11:00 am - February 3, 2015 @ 12:00 pm
FreeEvery Voice Matters celebrates the power of poetry–the power of words to give voice to our lives.
In each session, we will explore a different facet of poetry: Poetry Out Loud (the power of the spoken word); The Poetry of Childhood (nostalgia and the joy of youth); Gift Poems (poems given as gifts); Metaphorically Thinking (unlocking the magic of words); Poetry Read and Sung (your favorite poems).
This program is NOT an academic exercise, but a celebration of the spoken word! Poems will be presented in quality videos and images, and through the spoken voice.
Everyone is welcome. If listeners feel moved to bring a favorite poem to read, it’s all to the good. There is, however, no expertise required–just the eagerness to listen and enjoy. Presented by reference librarian Jerry Matovcik.
Tuesdays, Jan. 13 through Feb. 3 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. 4-week session
Free of charge; register at the Circulation Desk. Call 631.298.4134 for more information.
