Film: “Close Harmony” at East Hampton Library

April 20 @ 2:00 pm 3:30 pm

Close Harmony

The East Hampton Library, in conjunction with The Hamptons Festival of Music presents “Close Harmony,” produced and directed by Nigel Noble. The film chronicles how a children’s choir of 4th- and 5th-graders at the Brooklyn Friends School and elderly retirees at a Brooklyn Jewish seniors’ center combine to give an annual joint concert.

The New York Times’ John J. O’Connor called Close Harmony “the kind of production that whizzes by dazzlingly, leaving the audience drenched in smiles and tears and hoping for just a bit more”. Close Harmony won the Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) at the 54th Academy Awards.

Nigel Nobel, the director of Close Harmony, will offer insight into his film followed by an opportunity to join an inter-generational group leading the audience in song. This film is the first in a series of short AA winning or nominated documentaries highlighting “Music and Art in Concert.”
