Full Hunter’s Moon Hike with FLPG & SoFo
October 27, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
Co-sponsored by Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt and the South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo). Native Americans named this bright moon for obvious reasons. The leaves are falling from trees, the deer are fattened, and it’s time to begin storing up meat for the long winter ahead.
Because the fields were traditionally harvested in late September or early October, hunters could easily see fox and other animals that come out to eat the fallen grains.
Join us for this leisurely paced one-hour hike in Vineyard Field, the field behind the South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo) and afterward, for some convivial conversation and refreshments in the moonlight. Meet in the parking lot at 377 Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor Turnpike, BH.
To make a reservation for this program, please call the museum at 631.537.9735, or on night of event hike leader Jean Dodds, 631.599.2391.
