Gail Horton’s “Mermaid’s Tale of Greenport” at East End Seaport Museum
June 29, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm$5
Gail’s original Mermaid’s Tale of Greenport was created for the First Night Celebrations that took place in the 1990’s. It is a whimsical but true presentation of Greenport’s history and told though the eyes of a visiting mermaid. The story is colorfully illustrated with pictures of Ms Horton’s original tapestries.
A trained artist and writer, Gail Horton moved from oils to fibers in the 1970’s as she developed her skills in traditional rug hooking taught by her maternal grandmother, Huldah Taft Dimon, Personally created designs, hand dyed wools, sketching and photographing are part of what makes Gail’s pieces so unique. East End raised, most of Gail’s tapestries are based upon traditional Irish stories or local Long Island history.
