In Search of Herons, Ergrets, and Bitterns of the South Fork with SoFo

August 4, 2014 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

$7

The Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is North America’s largest and most common heron. This expert fisher wades through marshes and ponds in search of fish, amphibians, reptiles and even small mammals. During the summer season, our waters provide refuge for eleven different species of the Ardeidae family, which also includes Egrets and Bitterns. All of these birds have unique habits. Join Nicole to learn first, at SoFo, about the Ardeidae family and their life histories, and then travel with her to a nearby pond in the hopes of seeing some of these magnificent birds in action.

Leader: Nicole Cummings, SoFo Nature Educator
