J. Russell Jinishian on Maritime Art of Yesterday & Today at Suffolk County Historical Museum

June 18, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

J. Russell Jinishian

The presentation will chronicle the history of marine art–from its beginnings in 17th-century Holland, when the Dutch dominated the seas and trade routes, to the present day–highlighting key artists and their works.

J. Russell Jinishian, a leading authority on contemporary marine art with over thirty-five years of experience in that field, has owned and operated the J. Russell Jinishian Gallery in Fairfield, Conn., since 1997. Author of Bound for Blue Water (2003), a definitive guide to contemporary marine art, Jinishian is the founder and publisher of Marine Art News since 2001. He lectures nationally on marine art and collecting.

Includes admission to ongoing exhibits: From Shore to Shore: Boatbuilders and Boatyards of Long Island and the magnificent martime art exhibit on display in our new Noel J. Gish Gallery.
