Air Rites

Air Rites is the story of the dream, the realization, and the death of New York’s Pennsylvania Station, perhaps the greatest building ever made in America.   The story weaves through the lives of three families – the ‘family’ that built it, the family that destroyed it, and the family of a boy whose passion for trains imagined it.  Air Rites is a fairy tale story without a fairy tale ending.

Richard Brockman, playwright. Brockman’s plays have been produced throughout the US and UK. He has received production grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts among other awards. His published work has appeared in The Atlantic, Los Angeles Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal among others.

Mirra Bank, director. Bank works in both theater and film. She has been honored with awards and production grants from, among others, the National Endowment for the Arts; the New York Foundation for the Arts; the American Film Institute; the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Her feature filmLast Dance was short listed for an Academy Award.

Heather Christian, composer. Christian’s work has been performed widely in the United States, the United Kingdom – indeed throughout the World. Her numerous awards as a performer/composer/lyricist include a 2014 OBIE for music for The World Is Round at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. She tours extensively with her band: Heather Christian and the Arbornauts.
