JDTLab Presents TAP: An Evening of Rhythm by Anita Boyer at Guild Hall

From minstrel shows and Vaudeville to Broadway and back to the streets, the evolution of tap dance has been captivating audiences for over a century. This show will chronicle tap from its earliest forms and show how it has grown into the multi-faceted dance form that it is today. Featuring dancers and choreography from Our Fabulous Variety Show, dancehampton, and Royalenova Dance Studio, we will take you on a 90-minute romp through the history of tap!

Anita Boyer started dancing at age 5 with Hellie Schussler at Opus II Dance Studio in Ashland, Ohio. She studied classical ballet, jazz, modern and tap for 11 years in Ashland and has since studied swing, ballroom, and hip hop. Since moving to New York she has been introduced to rhythm tap at Broadway Dance Center with classes and private lessons from their amazing teachers including Stomp alum Nicholas Young. She teaches for Our Fabulous Variety Show with Kasia Klimiuk, and with dancehampton in East Hampton and Royalenova in Center Moriches.
