Jessica Soffer speaks at Stony Brook Southampton’s “Writers Speak Wednesdays”
February 25, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pmFree
JESSICA SOFFER earned her MFA at Hunter College. Her work has appeared in Granta, The New York Times, Martha Stewart Living, Real Simple, The Wall Street Journal, Vogue and on NPR’s Selected Shorts. She teaches fiction at Connecticut College and lives in New York City
Her “Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots” is a story about accepting the people we love — the people we have to love and the people we choose to love, the families we’re given and the families we make. It’s the story of two women adrift in New York, a widow and an almost orphan, each searching for someone she’s lost. It’s the story of how, even in moments of grief and darkness, there are joys waiting nearby.
Writers Speak Wednesdays will be held through May 6 in the Radio Lounge on the second floor of Chancellors Hall at Stony Brook Southampton. Receptions begin at 6:30 p.m. and the readings begin at 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.stonybrook.edu/mfa or call 631.632.5028.
