Jewish Film Festival: “Bogdan’s Journey” at Guild Hall

August 16, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

$7.50 – $15

(2016) Poland | USA, 90 min. 0n July 4, 1946, a crowd of people in Kielce, Poland, murdered holocaust survivors living in the city. Within 24 hours the massacre turned into a sensational international news event. The pogrom became a byword for Polish antiSemitism. Yet, within the country, until the fall of the communist regime, Poles were forbidden to talk about it. Enter Bogdan Bia?ek and his campaign of reconciliation.

For Bogdan Bialek, a Catholic Pole, anti-Semitism is a sin. In a story that begins with murder and ends with reconciliation, one man persuades the people of Kielce, Poland, to confront the truth about the darkest moment in their past: the massacre at the site of Europe’s last Jewish pogrom. This film is about change—the process, the results and the cost.
