LWV Congressional Candidate Debate

The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons has scheduled two candidate debates before the general election on Tuesday, November 6. Both are organized by the League’s Voter Services Committee, co-chaired by Anne Marshall of Bridgehampton and Barbara McClancy of Amagansett.
The debates will be taped by Southampton Town’s SEA-TV, for viewing later on Channel 22. The tapes will also be made available for screening on East Hampton Town’s LTV.
U.S. Congressional Candidates Debate, Monday, Oct. 29, 7-9 p.m.
The debate for the next two-year term for the 1st Congressional District seat takes place on Monday, October 29, 7-9 p.m. in the Hampton Bays High School Auditorium, 88 East Argonne Rd. (left off Ponquogue Ave., across railroad tracks).
This Hamptons League debate, co-sponsored by the Press News Group and the Hampton Bays Civic Association, features Congressman Lee Zeldin (R) of Shirley facing off against Perry Gershon (D) of East Hampton. It is expected to be the only in-person Congressional debate on the South Fork.
Format consists of the candidates making timed opening and closing statements and answering questions submitted by a panel composed of local media (the Press News Group and the Sag Harbor Express), the League, the Hampton Bays Civic Association, and the audience. Moderator will be LWV Gov’t Committee Co-Chair Cathy Peacock of Amagansett.
