LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF THE HAMPTONS INVITES YOU TO

“MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD”

Monday, September 17, 2:30-4:30 p.m. at East Hampton Library

The non-partisan League of Women Voters of the Hamptons asks: Do you want to have an impact on decisions made by your elected officials? Do you want changes but don’t know what to do or how to get started? Do you want to be more informed and involved?

If so, come to a program co-sponsored by the East Hampton Library and titled “Make Your Voice Heard” on Monday, September 17, 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Baldwin Family Lecture Room of the East Hampton Library, 159 Main Street.

Created for both newly-energized and seasoned individuals as well, the program will cover civic engagement techniques to become more active and more effective. Publications distributed will include the County League’s “2018 Directory of Public Officials,” which includes contact information for elected officials on every level of national, state, county, town and village government.

As Hamptons League co-presidents Estelle Gellman and Susan Wilson explain, “The mission of the League of Women Voters is to empower citizens and to encourage the active and informed participation of citizens in government. The League has had a long-standing motto, ‘Democracy is not a spectator sport.’ “

The New York State League of Women Voters was formed in 1919, and the National LWV in 1920—now that women had the vote—to study, become informed, and advocate on national, state and local issues, hold voter registration drives and candidate debates, all the while remaining non-partisan and never supporting or opposing candidates.

Attendees may wish to sign up to help with the League’s many voter registration tables located from Westhampton to Montauk on Tuesday, September 25, National Voter Registration Day. The Hamptons League serves both Southampton and East Hampton Towns.

For further information or to join the League, call the League phone at 631-324-4637, go to the League’s website at www.lwvhamptons.org or like the League on Facebook.
