LWV Forum on CPF Referendum with South Fork Town Supervisors at Hampton Library
September 19, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons is sponsoring a free public forum at Bridgehampton’s Hampton Library on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. to enable the public in both East Hampton and Southampton towns to learn about and ask questions about the Community Preservation Fund referendum that will be on this November’s ballot.
If passed, the CPF referendum would extend the fund to 2050 and would allow the towns to use up to 20% of the fund for water quality improvement.
At the forum, East Hampton Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell and Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman will discuss the importance of the referendum in improving water quality in the two towns.
In addition, both Kim Shaw, Director of East Hampton Town’s Natural Resources Department, and Janice Scherer, Principal Planner for Southampton Town’s Department of Land Management, will discuss the priorities and objectives of the water quality improvement plans that would be adopted in each town if the referendum passes.
Refreshments will precede the program.
Southampton Town’s SEA-TV will tape and air the forum on its Channel 22; East Hampton Town’s LTV Channel 22 is also expected to air the program.
Information is available from the League at 631.324.4637, the Hampton Library at 631.537.0015, or the League’s website at www.lwvhamptons.org.
