“Making your Lawn and Landscape Healthy and Toxic-Free” with NFEC and NFAS

Come and learn how to get your lawn off toxic chemicals which can contaminate drinking water, compromise human health and harm birds and other wildlife. Maintain a healthy, flourishing landscape incorporating best practices and native plantings for organic and least-toxic care. Special presentation by the Perfect Earth Project at 1:00 pm followed by “Plants for Birds”—a special presentation by Kelly Knutson of National Audubon.

Starting at noon there will be lots of user-friendly information and representatives to speak with regarding ecologically- sound lawn care and landscaping from organizations such as Cornell Cooperative Extension, the Peconic Estuary Program, National Audubon and Perfect Earth Project.

The 1:00 presentation by Perfect Earth Project will focus on organic lawn care practices for beautiful landscapes, healthy bodies and clean water.

The Perfect Earth Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising consciousness about the dangers of toxic lawn and garden chemicals for people, their pets, and the planet. Perfect Earth Project educates homeowners and professionals in nature-based landscape management techniques that provide beautiful, safe results at no extra cost.

At 2:00 pm Kelly Knutson from National Audubon will highlight ways in which we can establish bird-friendly communities in our own backyards.

The North Fork Environmental Council is a grassroots organization dedicated to the preservation and quality of natural resources and way of life that make the North Fork a unique place to live, work and visit. Incorporated in 1972, the NFEC is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
