Montauk Observatory Lecture at Amagansett Library: Einstein, Black Holes, and the Mystery of Gravity

April 14, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Please join us at the Amangansett Library at 7:00pm on Thursday, April 14, for the first lecture of 2016:

Einstein, Blackholes, and the Mystery of Gravity
Presented by Dr. Mike Inglis

Gravity is all around us, and pervades the entire universe. But it was the genius of Albert Einstein that showed us what gravity really is. In this lively and well illustrated lecture, Dr. Mike Inglis, Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Suffolk County Community College, will guide you through the subtle intricacies of Einstein’s description of gravity (without any mathematics!), taking in along the way such esoteric topics as blackholes, time travel, and the future of the universe.

If weather permits stay after the talk for a guided tour of the night sky and spectacular views through one of Montauk Observatory’s telescopes.

This is a family friendly event—all are welcome!
