Ross School Tennis Center
On July 17th Earth began passing through the trail of material left in orbit by the comet Swift-Tuttle. As this material falls into Earth’s atmosphere it produces brilliant meteors, or falling stars, which will peak in the early morning of August 12th, 2016 during the Perseid meteor shower.
Celebrate the start of the Perseids with Montauk Observatory friends and guests this Thursday, August 4, at 8:30pm (weather permitting) at the Ross School Tennis Center. Montauk Observatory telescopes will be available to view the planets and other celestial objects and Professors Mike Inglis and Sean Tvelia will be on site to lead informal discussions related to the viewable constellations as well as any and all objects viewed through the telescopes.
All of Montauk Observatory’s events are family friendly and free to public.
