Moonlight Serenade: A Musical Portrait of Glenn Miller with Philip Harwood

He was one of the most popular and successful Band Leaders of the Swing Era. An arranger, composer, and trombonist, Glenn Miller and his band recorded such hits as In The Mood, Chattanooga Choo Choo, String of Pearls, Moonlight Serenade, and more. They toured widely, appeared on radio, and made best-selling records. In 1942, Glenn Miller joined the Army Air Force and took his band to Europe. Film and music historian Philip Harwood will talk about Miller’s musical career, with film clips from Miller’s two films, and will also discuss the events leading to his mysterious disappearance in 1944.
