North Fork Audubon Presents Herb Gardening with Heather Cusack

Heather Cusack of Heather’s Herbals in Cutchogue and Herricks Lane Herbs and Heirlooms in Jamesport will visit North Fork Audubon with the wildly amazing varied wonderful world of medicinal herbs- learn to plant an herb garden at your house or community center, church, school, etc with medicinal, culinary, and cosmetic perennials and annuals.

Late August is a wonderful time to harvest and dry herbs for winter, feed and compost your herb garden, wildcraft herbs, and prepare for planting bulbs such as garlic and prepare your garden for winter. For the Audubon bird lovers plant what our local birds love to eat; we will drink some herb teas (please bring you own cup) – and get some recipes for herbal remedies. Learn the various ways to dry and preserve your herbs, use them in cooking and for medicine; make remedies and stock your own apothecary.

Heather studied at the Boston School of Herbal Studies, and with Deb Soule at Avena Botanicals in Rockport Maine and Rosemary Gladstar in Vermont.
