Group Show Opens Saturday, June 1

VSOP Projects is pleased to present Self Portrait Thinking About Art (after Peter Saul), our first exhibition of the 2024 Summer Season. We will also take this opportunity to celebrate our 7th anniversary at the gallery in Greenport Village.

Please join us for an Opening Reception on Saturday, June 1, from 6-8pm.

Critics, scholars, and artists alike have mused for eons that abstract paintings are representations of the complex inner-workings of the painter’s mind. Taking it’s title from a 2023 work by the one of the great idiosyncratic painters of the past 70 years, Self Portrait Thinking About Art (after Peter Saul) finds 15 artists employing differing strategies to mine non-representational painting for answers about it’s own true nature.

Self Portrait Thinking About Art (after Peter Saul) features works by Karen Arm, Mary Boochever, Courtney Childress, Louise Crandell, Tyler Giordano, Rainer Gross, Morgan Hobbs, Justin Horne, Ryan Patrick Martin, Jacob Ouillette, Masato Shigemori, Rachel Perry, Cary Smith, and Kevin Teare.

We will host a cocktail reception on the evening on Saturday, June 1 to celebrate the kickoff our our 8th year at the gallery, and will be open for regular gallery hours on Sunday, June 2, from 12-5pm.

As always, the gallery is open by appointment and during Open House weekends. Updated upcoming Open House dates can be found on our website here.
