Paolo Bartolani: Notes Across the Centuries at Church of the Redeemer
November 15, 2015 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Donations Accepted
The Douglas Moore Festival Committee, formed to honor the memory of famed Cutchogue composer Douglas Moore, has teamed up with the Long Island Composers Alliance to present a program of piano works by composers, both living and departed, many of whom are either working on Long Island today or who have been inspired by our peaceful shores in past generations.
Both LICA and the Douglas Moore Committee are honored to have these works presented by Paolo Bartolani, a fine pianist and concert-master from Rome who has recently made his home in Southold, and who brings with him several Italian pieces from across the centuries. Mr. Bartolani will offer the audience a unique perspective on the way in which these composers share the same language, across continents and time.
The concert will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer at 13225 Old Sound Avenue in Mattituck (across from the NFCT) on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. Admission is free but donations will be accepted at the door. The public is invited to a wine and cheese reception with the composers and Mr. Bartolani after the concert.
Composers whose works appear on the program include LICA members Julie Mandel, Alla Pavlova and George Cork Maul; Domenico Cimarosa, Domenico Scarlatti, James McMillan and Jack Beeson, who succeeded Douglas Moore as chair of the music department at Columbia University.
