“Passion for Color” Art Opening at Southold Historical Society
June 6, 2014 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Southold Historical Society is hosting a special exhibition featuring the artworks of Mac Titmus and Christopher J. Alexander at its Reichert Family Center’s Cosden-Price Gallery.
This exhibit of original works will be on display from June 3 through June 14 in the gallery at 54127 Main Road, Southold. An opening reception will be held Friday June 6, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Saturated color, lyrical movement, forceful line, and complex imagery are just a few of the adjectives used to describe the artistry of Mac Titmus and Christopher J. Alexander. Their passion for vivid color translates into a stimulating and climatic visual experience.
The digital visions of Mr. Titmus seek your personal interpretation, and with what began in New York at the turn of the 20th century as “The New Spirit”, the creations of Chris champion those responses in oil, and pastel.
Mr. Alexander takes pride in the fact that he is a self- taught artist, deciding in 2000 to express himself through painting. His process developed naturally with experimentation and perseverance. He finds inspiration through the work of his favorite artists, Georgia O’Keefe, Wassily Kandinsky and Pablo Picasso.
The Reichert Family Center is open daily from June 3 through June 14 from noon to 5 p.m.
