Riverhead 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

September 11, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

The Town of Riverhead will hold a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony to reflect and in remembrance at the Town’s World Trade Center Memorial Park located on the corner of Riley and Edwards Avenue in Calverton on Saturday, September 11 at 10 a.m.

The World Trade Center Memorial Park was created as a tribute to those who lost their lives during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This year’s commemoration will be particularly meaningful since it is the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, which claimed the lives of 2,977 men, women and children at the World Trade Center in New York City, at the Pentagon in Arlington, Va. and a farm near Shanksville, Pa.

Town officials will honor the memory of those who perished as well as the strength and courage of their families and friends, who continue to mourn their loss. Businesses, residents and visitors are invited to join the town for a brief memorial service. A wreath will be placed as a visible reminder to honor the memory of the heroes and victims. Everyone is encouraged to take a moment to honor our fallen heroes, victims and their families.
