With Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service coming up mid-January, the Riverhead Anti-Bias Task Force is hosting a Community Service Expo on January 7th from 1pm – 2:30 p.m. at the Riverhead Library. Anyone with a willingness or interest in volunteering locally will find a great match for their interests, abilities, and amount of time they have to give, whether it’s just a few hours total or an ongoing commitment.

Meet Riverhead not-for-profits and find out what they do and how you might be a part of helping them do it even better. From greeting guests to raking leaves, helping a beekeeper or with bookkeeping to sharing a skill, walking dogs or stocking shelves for a local food pantry, this volunteer expo will offer dozens of fun and rewarding ways to lend a hand locally.

“Everyone recognizes the value of community service, but we haven’t all found a way to serve yet. In advance of MLK, Jr. Day of Community Service coming up January 16th, we think this is a beautiful way to honor Dr. King and to do good in his memory. Gathering these wonderful local groups makes it easy to find a way to give back while doing something you enjoy and feel good about,” explained ABTF Co-Chair Cindy Clifford. “And we’re even making sure there’s a way for kids to do a service. We’ll have a Make-a-Card Table, so the children can create a personal greeting card to brighten a day for area seniors.”
