Riverhead ABTF Hosts Screening of “Paper Clips” in Tribute to Holocaust Remembrance Day

April 23 @ 1:30 pm

Paper Clips film

The Riverhead Anti-Bias Task Force and Riverhead Library will pay tribute to Holocaust Remembrance Day and to the power of education, with the documentary “Paper Clips” on Sunday, April 23 at 1:30 p.m. A discussion lead by ABTF Liaison Harley Abrams of Riverhead’s Temple Israel will follow the movie.

The Anti-Defamation League’s Center for Anti-Semitism Research shows that those with basic information about the Holocaust were significantly less likely to believe in antisemitic ideas. Yet more than half surveyed between ages 18-30 could not accurately state that six million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust.

The award-winning “Paper Clips” explores the impact of Tennessee students realizing the enormity of the Holocaust, far beyond history and far beyond numbers. Moving and inspiring, the movie shares an unforgettable lesson of how children and educators can change the world one classroom at a time. You may never look at a paper clip the same way again..

The public is invited and encouraged to attend this free movie. Advance registration is requested, but not required, by calling the Riverhead Free Library at 631.727.3228.
