See the Alewife Spawning Run at Woodhull Dam
April 21, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Free
The annual alewife run is underway on Long Island … and the best places to see these ecologically-important fish is at the Woodhull Dam in Cranberry Bog County Park. Seatuck and the Peconic Estuary Program invite you and members of the public to join us on April 21 for an up-close look at these amazing fish. We’ll be set up from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with nets, tanks and experts to give visitors a crash course on alewives and the critical role they play in Long Island’s coastal ecosystem. We invite you to join us for this unique opportunity!
The Woodhull Dam is located on the east side of County Road 51, directly across from the Suffolk County Center parking lot (near where the solar arrays begin). The location will be identified by a Seatuck tent and assistance crossing Rte. 51 will be provided. Please respond to peptalk@peconicestuary.org
