Shelter Island 10K & 5K

The Shelter Island 10k/5k are honored to have former Olympian, 4 time NYC Marathon winner and 4 time Boston Marathon winner Bill Rodgers. Plus Joan Benoit Samuelson, Olympic Gold Medal winner and first-ever women’s Olympic marathon champion. We also want to welcome George A. Hirsch Chairman of the Board New York Road Runners, a veteran of well over 40 marathons, publisher of Runner’s World, joint founder of the 5 borough NYC Marathon in 1976, and labeled “the most mentally tough runner I know” by Bart Yasso (writer, runner, ultra athlete).
George and Bill will be running the 2016 Shelter Island 10k and have devised a unique challenge for the race field! Stay tuned for details!
10K Run – $40
5K Run/Walk – $30
Registration fee after June 16 is $50 for the 10K and $40 for the 5k Run/Walk.

5:30-8:00 p.m. – PRE-RACE PASTA BUFFET presented by Shelter Island Students at the American Legion Hall opposite the Shelter Island High School. Price: $15 in advance, $20 at the door, $5 children under 12, $30 maximum for one family, $15 any time for Shelter Island Residents
5:30-8:00 p.m. – COMPETITOR CHECK-IN Site: Shelter Island High School Gym

5:30 p.m. – Start of 37th Annual Shelter Island 10K, front of the school
5:50 p.m. – Start of 5K Run/Walk Race, front of the school
7:00 p.m. – AWARDS CEREMONY at Fiske field, across from school
7:00 p.m. – Official 10K After Party “REVELRY ON THE ROCK” at The Island Boatyard/Salt Restaurant. (Free BBQ to all registered runners – Bring your race #, $20 for non-runners)
Cash bar, live music & dancing
7:00 p.m. – FREE SHUTTLE BUS TO POST RACE PARTY at Island Boat Yard (IBY). Shuttles from IBY to South & North Ferry continues until 11:00pm
11:00 p.m. – LAST FREE SHUTTLE BUS
