Soundwaters Educational Sail with SoFo

August 24, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$25 – $35
Soundwaters Schooner by Soundwaters

Set sail aboard the educational schooner SoundWaters from Sag Harbor onto Gardiner’s Bay and help raise the boat’s sails on this representative, late 19th century sharpie schooner, a boat like those that historically sailed the waters around Long Island, transporting goods and people. Specifically designed with a retractable centerboard instead of a fixed keel, these boats were able to sail in shallow coastal bays and on the nearshore ocean.

On board SoundWaters, the Marine Science Educators will help us examine and study plankton—tiny marine organisms that live in the bay water—as well as some of the larger animals that swim and crawl on the bay bottom.

Fee: SoFo members $25; non-members $35. Space is limited, so make your reservation as soon as possible.
