Southampton Tri-Energy “Go Fly A Kite” Peak Power Hour

August 30, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

How often do you hear the phrase “go fly a kite” as a figure of speech?

The Town of Southampton’s new Tri-Energy program literally wants to invite you to “fly a kite” and participate in an event to note this summer’s “Peak Power Hour.”  The peak hour of energy consumption is the time of day during a heat wave when PSEG LI expects energy demand will put a strain on the energy grid sometimes causing power outages.

In an attempt to reduce that demand and to raise awareness of this important issue, Tri-Energy is inviting residents to turn up their a/c thermostats to a warmer setting (up 2 degrees or more) in order to reduce the demand on the energy grid on Tuesday, August 30th from 4 to 6 pm  and then join other like-minded community members (Bring the Kids!) at an event at Long Beach in Sag Harbor and “fly a kite” at the beach to cool off.  FREE kites will be provided for the first 50 participants. No beach permits are needed to park at the North End of the parking lot to participate in this event.

Those who attend will also learn how to sign up for a free home energy audit and free rooftop solar evaluation as part of the Tri-Energy program.
