Southold Historical Winter Talk: “The Emergence of a True North Fork Cuisine”

The Southold Historical Society holds the first lecture in its Winter Series, featuring the well-known North Fork Chef and Author John Ross on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. at the Southold Town Recreation Center. Mr. Ross will discuss “The Emergence of a True North Fork Cuisine”. 

He has been a professional chef since 1965 and was the chef/owner of Ross’ North Fork Restaurant in Southold, NY for 27 years. He is considered a pioneer of the Farm to Table movement. He cooked from scratch using local fresh ingredients procured from farm stands, seafood markets, and local wineries at a time when people were embracing convenience foods. He is the author of several books, “The Poetry of Cooking”, “The Food and Wine of the North Fork”, and “The Story of North Fork Wine”.

This lecture is part of the Historical Society’s “Farm to Table: A Not So New Concept” winter lecture series sponsored by Poliwoda Team of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
